Joys Beach Cottage

Joy cottage is in a great location, right next to the bay, and quiet during the weekend. It’s at the end of an one way bayside road and little traffic. However, inside the fabrics are shabby and the beds are lumpy. The location though can’t be beat. There is a deck in front where it is great for drinking coffee in the early morning. There is construction next door, but they aren’t obnoxious. Some of the lamps need new lightbulbs, but there is adequate ceiling lights. I would recommend this rental if it could be updated with new mattresses and fabric coverings.

Coming to Rockport for over 50 years still remains a joy. Bringing our two grandchildren every year for the past 17 years has been even better. This little house was fun because it is one of the last original Water street fishing camp houses. All was as explained in the rental agreement except for pier damage(no tee head and no lights). Also apparently the management told two couples renting other property on the street that the pier in front of Joy's was used by several rentals. Very nice couple but with four of them on the short pier morning, afternoon and evening it would have been crowded for four more people and fishing in the evening was impossible. The house needs a thorough, move the furniture, cleaning. Beds were uncomfortable, new mattresses needed. We were disappointed in back yard care which is where we had our coffee out of the sun. Chairs were dirty and table chairs scattered and yard chairs were at the table. We felt we were paying what you asked and all should have been perfect. Overall the little place needs some attention and updating.

Cons: old so it was dirty in places--had not been thoroughly cleaned. Room window unit air conditioners did not work properly; ceiling fan made terrible noises--could not use the one in the bedroom; bathroom, especially shower were very small; only 4 washcloths provided for the entire week;more towels would also be nice.

Location, location, location! Sunrise over a private pier! Authentic costal 75 plus year old cottage with everything you need for true “leave the world behind” experience. And Rockport is charm! Wonderful people, coffee shops and nice seafood dining experiences. Rockport is a Texas gem!

Great cabin!

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights and had a great time. It was clean, stocked with things that we needed for our short stay. It has a really nice pier that you can walk on, which we did a few times and sat at the end and just really enjoyed the view and peacefulness. Great place to stay to get away from it all !!

Brought back memories of our old family cabin on the lake, but slightly bigger lake! Quaint, quiet little place for a nice relaxing getaway. Nice private pier to watch the sunrise. Close to Corpus and plenty to do in Rockport. We'll be back. Host communicated expectations and answered any questions quickly.

This place was good. Two adults fit comfortably with room for 2 kids. The ac was not great in the front part of this home but we just shut the door separating the rooms. Front deck is in disrepair but there's no privacy so we did not utilize it. Home is 20 feet away from a family home so quiet and courtesy is to be expected as a guest here. Looking to party? Don't go here. Want quiet and relaxing? This is your place.

Best thing about it was the fenced yard! Nice little cottage...don't expect anything too fancy for the size.

Pros: Excellent location right across from the water. Nice and cozy environment. A lot of antiqueness to the place. Got the opportunity to fish a bit which was very relaxing. Wife and I loved it and would do it again. Cons: The place could really used a deep cleaning and the bed was just a little uncomfortable. A few loose boards on the floors throughout the house

I enjoyed the peaceful area and felt safe as a woman traveling alone. Reservation process was easy and my questions were answered quickly with friendly and helpful information.

We enjoyed our few days on the water. The pier was great for fishing and just enjoying the sunset. Caught a large sting ray and a couple of Black Drum (released) and quite a few specs (also released). The house is a great size for a couple and the kitchen was well equipped for our needs. The furniture could use some upgrades to be more comfortable for us seniors.

It was a perfect place for my needs and I loved the long private pier with nailed down chairs for morning coffee and sun rises and evening wine and sunsets.

The Cottage was Unbelievably Perfect!!! It was the Perfect Romantic Getaway! Very Relaxing and Quite with an Amazing View!!! Definitely will be Back!!!
